Introducing Our New Performance Troupe
Are you excited about performing?
Passionate about your circus practice?
Wanting to take your skills to the next level?
Let us know if you want to join our new performance troupe! This troupe will be a dedicated group of aerialists who attend a weekly performance training in addition to their regular classes and are willing to develop a second discipline, ideally a ground-based art. Weekly trainings will be based on fabric or lyra (levels 2+) and will include a strong element of ground work (no dance or tumbling skills required).
This troupe will not only be the face of our future shows but also the go-to group for any external performance opportunities.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who are always eager to expand their skills and want to develop their creativity and performance qualities. As a member of our performance troupe, you attend trainings consistently, you are prepared to work hard on clean form, and you are willing to step out of your emotional comfort zone in order to play and develop something new and exciting!
Creativity and self-expression are encouraged, and we will learn and practice many ways to find and bring out nuanced and varied artistic expressiveness. You will have the chance to design your own "go-to" acts, showcasing your unique talents, but you will also be able to give up creative control to the director when the situation requires.
Why join the performance troupe?
Joining the performance troupe is more than just an opportunity to perform. It is a chance to play and explore with like-minded circus enthusiasts, and to develop comfort and skill off the apparatus as much as on it. As a trouper, you will develop a range of movement qualities, play with musicality, gain poise and learn ways to grow a stronger stage presence. You will learn about the art of act creation and gain valuable insight into costuming and make up. Most of all, you will have fun!
How to join?
First of all, let us know that you are interested!
Pre-requisites: you take at least one weekly fabric or lyra class (level 2 or 3); you can stay in the air for a minimum of 4 minutes straight; you have or are willing to start a second discipline – this requirement could be fulfilled by taking our pacro or tumbling class or by independent study of any manipulatives, such as juggling, hula hoop, or poi. We will bring the second discipline into our performance troupe training at regular intervals and see how our creativity tools can be applied to a variety of other disciplines.
We will likely hold auditions for new members, though the initial group may be invited based on our knowledge of their skill set. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are committed to their craft and ready to shine on stage.
Stay tuned for more details, and get ready to embark on this exciting journey with us. If you're passionate about performing and eager to be part of a dynamic and creative team, we want to hear from you. Let's create something amazing together.
Email us to indicate your interest in joining the performance team in the Fall of 2024 (Sessions 5& 6). Performance team members are expected to attend the 2 hour performance team training on Friday evenings as well as at least one additional regular class.
