2024 Class Level Re-Structure

Exciting updates are on the horizon for the New Year as we refine our class levels to better suit the needs of our expanding student body.

As time progresses, classes naturally develop a mix of skill levels. Students advance at their own pace, and newcomers join alongside seasoned participants. While some level variation is inevitable, our aim is to minimize this gap by fine-tuning and restructuring class levels. Ultimately, we want to foster an environment where students collaborate towards common goals, ensuring classes are enjoyable, safe, and engaging for everyone. Access to clearly defined levels and guidelines is key for students to navigate their progression and achieve personal milestones as well as for instructors to lesson plan effectively.

It's important to note that class levels aren't indicators of how well a student is doing or an avenue for competition. Each student has a unique journey with varying abilities, strengths, and challenges. Our diverse backgrounds, natural abilities, and fitness histories make comparing levels something we discourage at RICS. Everyone is encouraged to follow their own path and timeline.

At RICS, we measure success by the enjoyment, safety, and goal achievement of our students at their own pace. We celebrate the commitment to showing up, trying again, and embracing both small setbacks and significant victories.

Now, let's dive into how these level changes may impact you.

Our Introductory and Level 1 classes will remain largely unchanged. The number of classes per level will be adjusted as needed. Currently, we're addressing a significant skill gap between Level 1 and Level 2/2+ classes. To address this, we'll reclassify the existing Level 2/2+ class as Level 3 and introduce a true Level 2 class. This ensures a smoother transition for those progressing from Level 1, providing the opportunity to learn intermediate skills at a suitable pace.

The former Level 3 is really what would be Level 4 and currently we don’t have enough students interested in this Level to hold it as a weekly class. Those seeking greater challenge than Level 3 are invited to book private lessons, particularly with our visiting coaches, and to try more challenging apparatuses such as rope or straps. Our Rope and Straps classes are best suited for students at Level 2 and above on another aerial apparatus. If you're curious about exploring a new apparatus, consult with a coach for guidance.

Stay tuned as we update our website with fresh class descriptions and basic prerequisites for each level. Our coaches will guide you on whether a level change would enhance your experience or if staying in your current level is the best fit. If any questions or concerns about class levels arise, feel free to reach out to a coach or connect with us via email or social media. We're here to support your journey!
